One workshop, one name on the sign
The enamel, the phone, the job as the category. Not a Bosch-and-brands title. What an independent garage’s Google profile has to carry.

The name on the listing is the name on the sign. If the enamel says “Garage Martin”, the listing does not say “Martin Garage — Bosch Car Service expert, tyres, air-con, MOT, south Lyon”. Google’s name rules are written against catalogues in the title. A stranger searching the shopfront should land on the shopfront, not on a slogan.
The older one workshop, not a network piece already said that. This one is the sign, in detail: what goes in the title, what goes in a category, what never goes in either.

The title is the enamel, not the sticker wall
Representation guidelines want the name people would look up. Stickers on the door — a parts brand, an inspection network, a paint system — are not the legal name and they are not the listing title. If you really are a branded service centre and that name is on the fascia, that is different. If the fascia is shorter, the listing is shorter.
Keywords in the name get edited back, or the profile gets suspended. “Best garage Lyon” glued on the end is how you spend a month recovering a card. The shopfront is enough.
Primary category: the job, one. Car repair shop, or vehicle inspection station, or auto body shop. Secondaries if you really do tyres, air-con, towing. Inspection as the main line only if that is the trade, not because you also send cars to a centre down the road. Google matches searches to categories more than to a paragraph of brands in the description.
The description is for the person who opened the profile. Two or three sentences: who you are, which work you take, that you are one workshop. Not a list of every manufacturer whose badge you have ever unbolted. Not “official partner” if you are not.
Attributes: appointment if that is how the bay works. Accessibility if the reception allows it. Do not tick what a franchise pack ticked for a site that is not yours.
Saturday hours, a phone under the car, an entrance people can find
Hours on the listing are the hours a human can drop a car or reach you, including Saturday if Saturday is real. Google’s edit-profile page gives you regular hours, special hours, and today’s hours. Use them. The week you close in August belongs in special hours before the week. The longer calendar is hours, holidays, seasons.
A garage is usually a premises. Put the address. Hide it only if nobody can visit — that is not most workshops. The name, address and phone have to match the directories, the sign, and any page you have. If PagesJaunes still has the old mobile and Google has the landline, Google will eventually build a second card from the web. Then you spend a month merging two workshops that are one.
The phone is a number that rings in the reception, or in the pocket of the person who can say whether a bay is free on Thursday. Not the dealer’s hunt group. Not a number you stopped paying for in 2023. If you are under a car at 11:00, the voicemail should say when you call back. A listing that offers “Call” and then dies is a review waiting to happen.
The search against the dealer is independent versus the concession. This article is the card those people open. If the name is a catalogue, they never call. If the sign and the listing disagree by one word, the next card Google builds from the web will pick a side. Make it the enamel.
What the profile has to show before they book the bay
Photographs of this workshop: the lift, the reception, the yard entrance, a car only with consent. Not stock rims. The dedicated pieces are photos on the listing and lift and reception.
Reviews, replied to — especially “they explained the quote”. A link if you have a page for booking a bay; the listing works without one. Whether you still need a site is the general article. For a lot of “oil change + town” searches, Maps is the page. Booking the bay on a page of your own is the other job.
Services listed on the profile, if you will keep them true. MOT or inspection, oil, brakes — the work you still take. A service you stopped in 2022 comes off.
What Artifluence keeps straight
The listing editor is built for this: category, hours, the description, the photographs. It does not invent a second brand for a network you are not on. It does not write “Bosch expert south Lyon” into the title because a sticker is on the glass.
We do not have a garage testimonial on this site. The business page says so. The listing itself stays yours.
The report is how you see what Maps already knows — name, hours, the dealer and the neighbour — before you change anything. It publishes nothing.
