Google and Facebook for a plumber

Where a callout actually starts. The two networks we publish to for a plumber — Instagram only if the jobs are already on the phone.

A plumber does not need a channel plan. They need to know where a stranger still looks at 6am, and where the street they already know still sits. For us that is two places, in this order: Google, Facebook. Instagram is extra if you already take job photographs and will keep consent. We do not tell a plumber that Pinterest or TikTok is where leaks start.

One week. The two networks the business page actually lists.

Google is the stranger with the bucket

“Plumber” plus a town. Your name. A listing that can be called. Posts that are not a mess — see job photos that are not a mess. Reviews that are answered. This is the page they open on the phone while the floor is wet. The networks for a local shop piece says the same thing in general; here it is sharper: if you only had one, it would be this.

Distance and a true service area matter more than a pretty grid. Hide the house, list the communes — that is the listing article, and it is also why Google leads.

Facebook is the street

Neighbours, the people who still see a local page. A finished job they recognise as their building, a “we are taking callouts Saturday”, a reply to a comment that is not a lead form. You do not need a second brand page and a personal profile fighting each other. One page in the van’s name, kept alive.

Instagram if you already shoot — the after, the van — and if you will ask. Stories we can publish where the product does. We do not sell TikTok. We do not sell a Pinterest board of other people’s bathrooms.

One photograph, two destinations

You shoot the after once, if they said yes — or the van if they did not. The same file can go to Google as an update with a Call button, and to Facebook as the street post. Instagram only if that is already how you show work. The sentence changes slightly: Google wants the town and the button, Facebook can stand the building if it is not a letterbox. That is not three jobs. That is one approval.

The name on the Facebook page and the name on the listing have to be the same van. NAP is not only a Maps problem. A page still titled like last year’s partner, and a listing under your surname, is two businesses as far as a 6am search is concerned.

Pinterest is not where a leak starts. We can publish there because the product has the fourth network. We do not tell you to open a board of bathrooms.

Comments are part of the week. A “can you come to [town] this morning?” under a Facebook post is a callout, not a like. Answer with the truth about the zone, or pick up the phone. A Google question that is “do you do boilers?” deserves yes or no, not a sticker. We do not sell a community manager. We sell a calendar you can finish before the next leak.

If the Facebook page is still in the name of a partner you left, fix the name before we publish. A post that goes out under the wrong van is how a 6am call goes to a number that is dead. The same is true of a listing you never claimed: claim it, hide the house, then publish.

Order in a given week: Google first if only one thing will go out — the listing post with the Call button. Facebook the same file if you have a page people still see. Instagram only if you already opened the camera for the after. That is the order on the business page. We will not invert it to look more “social”.

A week with only Google is a finished week for a plumber. A week with Google and a Facebook comment answered is better. A week with four networks and a missed 6am call is a failed week. The product exists for the first two, not the third. Google and Facebook are enough for a leak. The rest is optional, and optional is allowed to wait. A plumber who only keeps Google this month is not behind. They are doing the job in the right order.

What we will not add to look complete

LinkedIn as a “must”. A YouTube channel of boiler teardowns you will not edit. A fifth network for the logo wall. TikTok. We do not connect those, so we do not put them on a slide. Artifluence publishes to the four it actually has. The plumbers page leads with Google and Facebook. It has no plumber’s testimonial. We will not invent one here.

One calendar. You approve. The evening after the last leak is supposed to be shorter, not five logins.

Google does not rank “the nearest shop”. It ranks the one that looks like the right answer. How that decision is made, for one business, not a chain.
